Steve is a partner in Beckett McLaughlin International LLC, an international executive search firm formed in 1983. Steve has over twenty years experience in international security, risk analysis, military affairs, and executive search placement. Previously he ran a risk analysis firm which advised a major financial house on private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund investments. He also created and ran a successful European consultancy which advised U.S. clients on penetrating emerging European markets. In this endeavor Steve assembled a multinational team of various industry experts while also identifying a unique market sector for mid-size U.S. firms seeking to enter new and emerging markets. He handled international security issues for GTS-GSS Consulting. Earlier in his career Steve worked as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, conducting risk analysis and geopolitical reporting in Chile, Peru, and Mexico. He established a track record of identifying and managing relationships with local government and private sector officials to obtain the best quality information. Steve was a U.S. Marine Corps Officer with four years service in the combat arms, including assignments to the Middle East Rapid Deployment Force and overseas deployments to high threat areas. A global citizen, Steve was born in the Middle East and lived in Israel, Italy, Nigeria, Somalia, Mexico, Barbados, and the Dominican Republic. He is a graduate of Rice University with a B.A. in History, and completed graduate studies in International Trade Theory at the Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile. Steve speaks native Spanish and English, and fluent French.
